IEEE Statistical Signal Processing – Freiburg (10-13 June 2018)

Last week, the MOPRAM team, represented by Mattia and Luca, participated at the “IEEE Statistical Signal Processing” workshop held in Freiburg from 10th to 13th June 2018. The event was held at the historic merchant’s palace (Kaufhaus), symbol of the importance of trade in medieval Freiburg.

MOPRAM presented the work entitled “Tomographic reconstruction of rainfall fields using heterogeneous frequency microwave links“. The exhibition took place during the special session “Signal processing for opportunistic rain monitoring”, organized by H.Messer (Tel Aviv University, Israel) and Björn Ottersten (University of Luxembourg, Luxembourg).

Participation in this event made possible a productive exchange of ideas and innovative points of view regarding the topic of precipitation monitoring; in addition it was possible to involve researchers belonging to different scientific areas, raising awareness about the problems related to hydrogeological instability.

It was also an opportunity to visit the charming village of Freiburg in Breisgau. We admire the magnificent Gothic cathedral “Münster unserer lieben Frau” and the characteristic streams (Bächle), which run through the city.
